I am a literary and commercial translator working from Arabic and French into English. As a literary translator, my mission statement is “to advocate for misrepresented communities who tell their own stories on their own terms”. I also work as a commercial translator, translating in the fields of international development, social sciences, and the environment.
I was longlisted for the 2021 John Dryden Translation Competition, and was awarded a 6-month mentorship on the National Centre for Writing’s 2020/21 Emerging Translators Mentorship scheme. I was also the Centre’s translator in residence in May 2021. I volunteer for the World Kid Lit Project, and am trained by the Stephen Spender Trust to deliver creative translation workshops in schools.
